Big Nick’s has been a neighborhood mainstay for hungry Upper West Siders since 1962. Owner Jimmy Galanopoulos certainly knows how to keep his customers full and happy. Even though the restaurant has always been known for its large portions and reasonable prices, it’s the food itself that truly stands out. By using only freshest ingredients and no preservatives, Big Nick’s serves some of the best pizzas, burgers and Greek specialties in New York. With thirty-three toppings, and four styles of crust (including a healthy whole wheat with low-fat cheese and a thick Sicilian pie), there is certainly something for everyone; or try their famous avocado burger, made with one hundred percent pure steer beef either in the comfort of your home or in a cozy booth at the restaurant.

Big Nick’s has even been lauded by the likes of David Letterman, the New York Daily News and Good Housekeeping for their pizza-making expertise, but that should be no surprise at all to Big Nick’s loyal customers. With a motto like “Quantity and Quality and a reasonable price,” how can you go wrong?

Service took over an hour and was cold and extra greasy

With all the places in NYC willing to deliver you a hot cheeseburger in under 30 minutes, why would you order from someplace that delivers a cold cheeseburger in 60?

They have HORRIBLE customer service. We ordered hot wings and they had a sweet and sour sauce on it. I'm not that picky about wings but these were inedible. We called them back and asked if we could substitute them for something else. They tried to say that they couldn't because we had taken a bite of 1 out of the 12 wings we ordered. Finally they said they would take back the wings and give us a burger but that we couldn't have the balance between the two meals. When our $16 dollar burger arrived it was a dry and cold and didn't have anything but this weird cheese sauce on it. I think it had been made wrong and was sitting around in the restaurant. Long story short, while the burgers are OK generally, the customer service doesn't make it worth it. Choose one of the hundred better burger joints in the city.

Not impressed with my American Cheeseburger. The quality of the meat is below par (gristle/unchewable hard parts) and they consider lettuce, tomatos and onions as a $3.50 "burger extras". Yeah, right!

Superfast delivery. Fresh and tasty. They were able to customize my order -- I wanted spinach pie but instead of salad, asked for fries. Charge was $9.50. And instead of a falafel platter, I just wanted falafel balls with tahini sauce. They are friendly and family-style. Open late hours. Not the healthiest but definitely convenient and tasty.

Food was delivered in 25 minutes. Burger was huge, cooked perfectly, and excellent. Sweet potato fries were soggy and not that great.

They forgot to deliver an item and wouldnt refund the money or re-deliver it. They suck.

I ordered a veal cutlet parmigiana hero. The veal was rubbery and not particularly good. Otherwise, the order was processed in a timely manner and the delivery person was friendly. The french fries were very good.

First SeamlessWeb order to not just meet the 15 minute window, but to actually deliver inside it. Burgers are juicy and messy as they should be, and also still warm after a 12 block delivery. It isn't Burger Joint, but it's the best that delivers on the Upper West Side. Onion rings are good, but don't expect much from the fries.

This pizza is awesome - I tried alot in the area and I like this one the best!

The Burgers are always good and come quickly. I wish they would put the waffle fries in a separate container but other than that food is quite yummy!

The Butcher's Tenderloin was thin cuts of tough beef smothered in onions. Definitely not worth the price. I was totally disappointed.

This might be one of the best pizza restaurants on the West side. Their sauce is the best part. The crust is crunchy and delicious. Chicken fingers are great too.

Big Nick's has amazing, and one-of-a-kind Greek pizza. The slices are big and the sauce tastes different than your run-of-the-mill thin crust. I highly recommend a visit!

Menu is extremely hit or miss. Pizzas are excellent, calzones are terrible. Burgers are great, buffalo wings are awful. Delivery times are vary wildly. Once you learn what they do well, though, it's fine as long as you order before you get hungry.

Delicious chicken souvlaki! I frequently order from Big Nick's. The quality is a bit inconsistent, but overall it is quick comfort food.

best place on the UWS to order burgers and pizza. quick delivery.

Four stars because this place is consistently good. I wouldn't do the wings on delivery again but the burger and fries are awesome.
Posted 9 months ago by OSMEL C.
Quick delivery which is always appreciated. The menu is huge, which is great for when you are ordering for more than 1 person. Everything arrives fresh and as ordered. I will order from here again!

Food is consistent - pizzas are great. Chicken or steak caesar salad also great - they give you a lot of meat.
Posted 9 months ago by Rachel R.
I wish I could give a higher review considering the massive options they provide on their take-out menu... but maybe that's the problem. Yes, you can get just about anything you want but the quality is lacking. What makes it worse is having the lack-luster food arrive cold - which it did. Oh well...

The whole wheat pizza slide tasted like card board and it was delivered cold and soggy.

Food is mediocre but they are the only ones open late and usually very fast delivery

BEST Eggplant Parmesan on the upper west side :)

I was waiting for my food and it was over 30 minutes late. So I called the restaurant only to be told that my food had been ready for a while and was sitting there getting cold while they waited for a delivery person. As if that weren't bad enough, the person on the phone then proceeded to yell at me, saying that it was my fault for ordering food when they were really busy. When asked when I could expect my food he only kept yelling at me and telling me that they were really busy and that they had no idea when I'd get my food. When the food finally arrived it was more than an hour late.

Very average burger. Not great guacamole. Substandard fries. Fair but not great.

Food was delivered fast and was well-wrapped in foil so everything stayed warm in 20 degree weather.

Awful Pizza. Tasteless Mozzarella.

The worst service I have ever had in my life. Food arrived over an hour and 20 minutes after placing order even though delivery time indicated was 30 mins and they advertise they have fast delivery. Food was cold and not edible and clearly the pizza was not gourmet even though they claim it is. Finally, the representative from Big Nick's lied when he said our food was on the way and only began to deliver it after we called after 50mins had elapsed from the time we placed the order. Will never order again from this place. Would give zero stars for food and service if possible

We ordered their pizza first time yesterday. Most pizza restaurants around makes the pizza with lots and lots of oil and very greasy. Their pizza had only enough of it and also tasted great. Dough is very good as well.

I ordered this food at 11:12 and now it's 12:03 and I still haven't received it. This is a problem and I will not be ordering Big Nicks through SeamlessWeb again.

This is the first time I have *ever* reviewed *anything*, so this has to mean something: we just ordered a pizza with mushrooms and eggplants from Big Nick's - pretty straightforward, right? Apparently not. What we received was a disgusting mixsure of canned mushrooms, grade Z cheese, a red paste that only resembled tomato sauce and I won't even start about the fried (!) eggplants. The thing tasted like a McChicken... After a few bites we threw the whole thing away.

They always deliver quickly and accurately. I requested an option be added to the menu, and they added it a day later. Now that's customer service.

Big Nick's burgers are the best!

I'm usually a fan of Big Nick's, but this time around the food was horrible. A simple burger was soaking wet and looked as if it had been sitting for a while. On top of that they forgot my drinks.

Quick delivery, and a delicious veggie burger (I hate it when they're mushy - this one wasn't!) with nice thick fries. My only complaint is that $1 seems excessive for adding cheese to a burger.

My order came in a timely manner. The cappucino shake was pretty good. The onion rings were generic. My burger didn't come as ordered. I specified no tomatoes and I got tomatoes. It was also supposed to come with avocado and it didn't. Kind of a letdown.

Only ordered from here because it was the only burger joint open at midnight. Good God, literally the worst burger I've ever had. How do you mess up a burger that bad? How does this place stay in business?

worst penne a la vodka I have ever had

I've ordered from here in the past with no problems but an order of pancakes and a milkshake should NEVER take 85 minutes to deliver. I called 3 times and kept being told it was on the way and whoever I talked to promised to call me back after they got in touch with the delivery guy and never did. the food was cold and the milkshake was soup... never ordering from here again.

Really hit or miss - one night I ordered, for friends, a fantastic fried chicken dinner, garlic knots, Sicilian pizza and baklava - it was pretty late at night but the food was delicious. Ordered it last week again, this time the pasta primavera soup and a fried egg sandwich. Soup was disappointing, sandwich was incredibly poor - on two pieces of wheat bread that were soggy and limp. But good service, fast delivery.

Burgers are awesome! the pizzas are not our favorite, but they are ok. Correction: Changed my mind regarding the Burgers. They have dropped in quality. More specifically, the turkey meat came a little dry. Sometimes it's the opposite and the bread is all wet and soggy.

I mean, seriously, how can you go wrong with Big Nick's. Every time we have ordered or ate there the place provides good food for the value. Plus the folks there are nice. Go Big Nick's!

Delivery took an hour. When I called them, the guy on the phone was apologetic and said it had "just left". Food was still warm when it arrived, so I guess he was telling the truth. Whole wheat pizza was, as always, perfectly mediocre. Food here is nothing amazing, but rather inexpensive and has a few interesting options. Word of warning: when I had the falafel once, it was really greasy and nasty. There are better options for that. Can't complain about the whole wheat pizza, tho. It's nice and hearty, and they balance the amount of bran so that the crust isn't too dry.

I usually order from the Big Nick's on Broadway, but thought I'd try this one because of some different menu options and the 20% discount. My gyro came drowning in tzatziki. I've never seen anything like it. I had to fish for the meat, tomatoes and lettuce, scrape half a cup full of tzatziki off, and then reassemble the sandwich. And speaking of the ingredients...there were no onions! This is an essential gyro ingredient. Also, my side salad also came in a sea of dressing. Yes I did ask for dressing mixed in, but no one needs this much dressing. And, I asked for creamy Italian, which came on the side but NOT on the salad. The dressing on the salad looked like more tzatziki. Moral of the story: stick with the original Nick's on Broadway.

This place deserves NO STARS. The chicken was deep fried beyond imagine and tasked almost rotten (I ended up throwing it away). All in all...this is worst experience I have had ordering from a restaurant on seamlessweb. This place is definitely not worth the money.
Posted 2 years ago by Ryan C.
The only nice thing to say is that it was solid food. Otherwise, soggy, old, bland and tasteless. Not ordering out from this place again. FYI - tzatziki is yogurt with 2 chunks of cucumber.

Excellent burger, fast delivery, great waffle fries. What's not to like?
Posted 3 years ago by John M.
Great burgers and very good pizza. The rest of the menu is hit or miss, but BIg Nicks really knows how do these two things well. I've never had a better burger in New York.
Posted 3 years ago by Matthew S.
The good: the burger was cheap and fresh, delivery was prompt The bad: they don't give you ANY toppings with the burger (i.e. no lettuce, no onions, no tomato), the waffle fries were soggy (but better than Texas Rotisserie's), the burgers are smaller than Texas Rotisserie's. For all you burger enthusiasts out there, the bun on the burger was pretty wonderbread-like

Pizza arrived an hour late, extremely cold, burned and looked like it had been dropped. I will NEVER order from this "joint" again.

Their veggie burger is outstanding - I recommend it with melted cheese and caramelized onions.
Posted 4 years ago by Christopher C.
Very disappointing. I've eaten in the restaurant and had a great experience, but my experience with delivery was sub par. The delivery took an hour and a half and the food was cold and not edible. Even when the pizza was re-heated, it was just bad.
